I’m on kbin.earth too and just checked the combined all feed sorting by newest and 6 out of the first 25 posts were microblogs from a mix of mastodon and misskey so they’re definitely federating. I’m not sure of any other settings that would prevent them being displayed. @jwr1@kbin.earth do you have any ideas?

If you go to the all microblogs feed you can see all the microblogs federated to your instance. Alternatively you can use the combined feed and it will have both threads and microblogs mixed together however you may have to scroll a while or sort by new to see microblogs.

This is due to the difference in how users interact with the two forms of content and thus how they are ranked by the sorting algorithms. Threads will typically get more interaction with votes and comments than microblogs will because they are strutured more for discussion whereas with microblogs people tend to post more but each individual post gets less interaction and thus they get pushed down with the sorting methods used by lemmy/piefed/mbin.

Mastodon uses a chronological sort so if you do want to see more microblogs it would probably be easiest to copy that and sort by new. I’m starting to think the only way to get a good mix between the two types of post is to have custom client side algorithms but that can get kinda complicated so no one is really doing it.

Notification history is purely local to the device. It is not sent to any servers.

Yes the notifications were retrieved from the phones local storage. Firebase was not involved in anyway.

Even better would be an open sorting algorithm like Loops or one where I can set the weighting of posts myself.

There is fedialgo which is a customizable algorithm for mastodon. However I don’t know of any full clients that implement this. They do have a demo at https://fedialgo.thms.uk/ if you want to play around with the weights.

Participation in some form of community service is something that would do a lot of people some good. However mandatory participation is likely to breed contention and there are better avenues other than military service.

Thanks for the support. The unrelated comments is due to how Mbin classifies posts as cross posts based on either the url or the post title. It’s pretty good usually but sometimes when the title is relatively simple or generic there are some false positives.

Australia has a reputation for dangerous wildlife but… just don’t touch them. The only animals that might deliberately come up to you and attack would be salt water crocs and drop bears but they’re only found in very specific areas so just be careful when visiting up far north. Everything else (fresh water crocs, dingoes, snakes, etc) will keep their distance so keep your own distance and don’t bother them and you’ll be fine.

Interstellar is a mbin client but also has support for lemmy. It is made in flutter and has builds for linux desktop.
