I calculated that if I only drink coffee at home I spend about 1000€ a year on it.

I get the feeling that the ultra successful also fuck people over who very well do realize that they are being fucked over
This is, indeed, a more realistic solution for America than, let’s say, let the president have less power. Or getting rid of the electoral college.
Can I also add: to anyone witnessing a stranger’s kid having a tantrum, be gentle. It is not bad parenting or child abuse or anything like that, at least not in the vast majority of cases. If you want a loud tantrum to be stopped right there and then you basically are demanding that a person, who is not yet able to control or even understand their emotions fully due to an undeveloped brain, is being controlled. You want less Karens in the future? Let the kids, please, experience these tantrums and find a way to deal with them. And be easy on the parents. They cannot shut down their kid like a machine and if they can - they shouldn’t, it most likely would require some form of violence or control that you would not want a child to experience if you really gave it a thought. And believe me the parent is feeling like shit already, no need to look down on them.
Please remember you also were a kid once.
(Also, my love goes out to anyone named Karen, it is a beautiful name and wear it with pride, I am sorry it has become tainted. )
Same man, where do these people get their flashlights
Edit: Thank you for the countless tips on where you guys buy flashlights. But neither am I in the USA nor do I actually ever need a flashlight. I have two at home and I don’t think I ever actually used them for other than fun. I guess the follow up question is what do you do with all those flashlights?
I’m both you and your wife. I sneak into the sleeping room and I yell that it’s time to get up.
I once read a quote that said meal prepping is the perfect method to ensure that you always have food that is cold, old, and not what you’re in the mood for. And although my love goes out to everyone who does meal prep (it’s great!) this quote put into words a feeling that I always failed to grasp.
I love cooking and I have tried meal prepping in different forms so often. But 90% of the evenings I end up cooking something from scratch that I am actually in the mood for. It feels - whatever the opposite of empowering is. My spouse is happy to eat the same meal 5 times in a row, I have a hard time even with 2 different meals in between. My freezer is full of “prepared” food that we could just dethaw and eat and it ends up being eaten by my spouse or trashed after months of me not unfreezing it.
Like, pumpkin soup the other day! So easy to make a big batch! Efficient and fun! I make enough for 6 portions and we have delicious soup and I am so proud that I made enough to last for a couple of meals but I hate to see that soup in the fridge the next day.
That sounds like a nice cover version
Literally the first person I thought of when reading the title of this post
Dude I was born in the early 90s and even I assumed “Pagers” was something I am not familiar with when I read the news. The name of a city? A guy? Some ethnic group? Some new military car? At some point I thought the news outlet just meant Prague (especially since I read it in German news first). I never would have guessed they literally meant pagers. Took me like 2 news report headlines and 4 mentions on lemmy to be like “oh wait what for real?!”
Yeah because they are going to steal your most beloved jobs! Like cleaning and fast food cooking and everyone’s childhood career dream of being a toilet lady.
For real though, I could at least follow the logic if it were for high paying, competitive jobs. But these aren’t the migrants you are trying to keep out, in fact it is the one every country wants to get in. So why are the migrants the problem who are going to live in relative poverty, agreeing to wage theft, agreeing to horrible living conditions? The ones who won’t hardly have enough for a pension.
Also, there is nothing wrong with cleaning, fast food cooking, or toilet ladies. All the more power to them. It is a fucking disgrace that we regard certain unpleasant jobs (that will still need to be done) as low skill, low class, and award them with the lowest pay possible.
Out of interest, what do you mean with textured vegetable protein?
I am always amazed how everyone is so focused on billionaires only
You’re right, I’m from Germany
I’ve known one woman who sometimes wore the engagement instead of the wedding ring but this was very odd and uncommon. I know everyone keeps their engagement ring but hardly anyone ever wears them, let alone on a regular basis.
Dude did you just reveal his identity and ruin his secret streak?
While I don’t see the necessity in wearing a ring in the first place - yet I am a sucker for rings - what always gets me is having a fancy overpriced engagement ring that you’re supposed to wear for a short period of time and then a simple wedding ring that you’re supposed to wear forever.
We had a problem with ants this summer and leaving the apartment for a week to return to a spider haven was the best thing we could have done. The spiders took care of them. We are still finding eaten shells of ants wrapped in spider webs. Thank you little leggys
It’s great that you found a diet that helps with your health and works for you!
You probably know this anyway and most likely implied it, but I just want to stress that carbohydrates per se are not bad. Yes, eventually everything is being broken down to sugar, but you should not reduce carbohydrates to this function only. Oats are mostly carbohydrates, but they are whole grain with a lot of fiber and are a great source for iron (if not eaten with dairy). Their GI is in the 50s but you would have to take the whole dish into account, as rarely you’ll just sit there munching oats like a horse. Buckwheat and quinoa are often praised for their high protein content (and it’s true, they have like 10-12g of protein per 100g) but they still consist mostly of carbohydrates. A slow breakdown of complex carbohydrates gives you long term energy without raising blood sugars too much.
