BOSTON (AP) — The Supreme Court on Friday granted the Trump administration’s emergency appeal to temporarily block a court order to fully fund SNAP food aid payments amid the government shutdown.

A judge had given the Republican administration until Friday to make the payments through the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program. But the administration asked the appeals court to suspend any court orders requiring it to spend more money than is available in a contingency fund, and instead allow it to continue with planned partial SNAP payments for the month.

THIS IS A BREAKING NEWS UPDATE. AP’s earlier story follows below.

BOSTON (AP) — Residents in some U.S. states began to receive their full SNAP food aid Friday as an appeals court left in place, for now, an order requiring President Donald Trump’s administration to fund the monthly benefits amid a U.S. government shutdown.

At the very least to keep the status quo and mitigate irreversible harm. This seems like an order to push forward the agenda of their god king and barrel through with the harm.

And now we have Democrats talking about bills to reopen with a vote in ACA in December. I doubt SNAP will even come back to fill strength if the government opens back up

The Government’s argument, I shit you not, “Congress has not given explicit permission to do this.”

Invade cities with ICE, bomb boats in the body of water formerly know as the Gulf of Mexico, literally start a war with a sovereign nation, tariff the fuck out of everyone… BUT OH NO! Feeding kids, that’s Executive overreach.

Man, I’m not religious, but holy fuck I really do hope there is a hell.

“I’m okay taking a few hits. They gotta weed out the leeches who just drain the system” <- actual reasoning I’ve heard.

When half the country is willing to starve to death and armed to the teeth, the other half is not quick to riot and provoke them

Soon. When the safety nets start failing.

However, Trump will likely be removed by his own people in a matter of months, and Republicans will pretend to be victims of an elaborate scheme. It’ll probably work too, because anyone who is a supporter of Republicans today is a literal moron, or psychopath.

If Trump is removed, Vance takes office automatically. The whole point of the VP is to be a hot spare for the POTUS. They would have to get rid of Vance next if they didn’t want him, and it probably goes downhill from there.

In Trump’s first term, people said his insurance premium against impeachment was very affordable: “just one Pence”. :)

Correct, and correct. But Vance will be seen as a MAGA traitor for removing Trump, and they will have a very hard time getting their messaging straight.

I think that would also lead to a power vacuum. Vance might get the big boy chair, but the stringpullers will get antsy with midterms approaching.

It does feel like things are resolving. Trump just got his lowest ratings ever, and last time it took a pandemic, a crippled economy, and a million dead Americans to reach this point.

His acceleration tactic seems to be potentially backfiring. His intention to start wars is his solution, but I’m not sure that will work considering how much he’s fucked up everyone’s everyday lives. The record-high job losses, the skyrocketing price of goods, the housing costs, loan rates, and rent prices…

He doesn’t have the intelligence to fix this. And as it gets worse, so too will public opinion. He’s at a 63% disapproval rating right now. And this was before the news about the Epstein files being “far worse” for Trump came from The Department of Justice.

The craziest whacko republican in the senate is now openly flipping on Trump to get those files released. The shutdown is preventing this, and now nearly 42 million Americans are about to be impacted by Trump and the GOP Supreme Court deliberately shutting down their food money.

The argument is that they can’t pay because the democrats want to also maintain the evil bad socialist disastrous healthcare system. Instead of paying the insurance companies through Obamacare, we should give people the money directly so healthcare providers can gouge the fuck out of prices even more effectively.

Also, remember that communism is evil and that the islamists and marxists are now emboldened by the brown guy being elected in NY. And while we’re at it, isn’t this whole “waiting for the government to pay for your food” thing socialism anyway? Look where voting Dem got you!

Really, this shutdown is what the dems wanted. They’re the bad guys who don’t want people to have food!

Now excuse me while I try to wash off the disgusting feeling this dive into their cesspools has left me with. It probably won’t work, but I have to try.

We are officially in the “Let them eat cake” stage of this MAGA government. Enormous ballrooms, foreign jet bribes, bailouts for foreign dictators, and now they’re going to deliberately starve poor people because they think it will make people vote for them.

When we take back this government, this will be the exact reason that there should be at least three seats added to the Supreme Court, and Clarence Thomas should be impeached, prosecuted and imprisoned, along with his treasonous bulldog wife.

They are actively STARVING their own citizens! There will be no punishment too severe for these monsters.

You are long past “take back the government” at this point. The flaws in the system have been so blatantly exploited that it requires an overhaul to fix. Three more seats on the supreme Court just means a fascist needs two more people in their pocket to do the exact same thing that is happening now.

So this is how you know you’re the fucking bad guys, if any MAGAs are lurking around here.

They are either starving people for leverage, or starving people out of malice. That’s it. Those are your only options.

If you support a government that starves people for leverage, you’re a fucking asshole.

If you support a government that starves people out of malice, you’re a fucking asshole, and you’re a complete failure of a human being.

I’m very, VERY thankful Trump and MAGA are finally collapsing. 3 months from today Trump will not be the president. 3 years from now, most of these people will be dead or in prison.

        Escalation or capitulation.

Escalation means explosion of all the tension that has been building since inauguration, and that won’t last long as it will be utter chaos and good for nobody.

Capitulation means Vance. But that doesn’t necessarily preclude escalation down the road with him.

If I was a betting man, I’d say capitulation - MAGA politicians will throw Trump under the bus, MAGA voters (read: morons) will reject Vance, Bannon, Miller and Thiel will panic and get messy, and then some people will go to prison.

It’s even worse than that. They did it not because it’s unconstitutional in any way but because they felt that it was dangerous to cause more debt by using these funds which were specifically set aside for this exact purpose.
