Absolutely not. I take cold showers in the summer all the time. I mean, they’re not super-cold, if that’s what you mean, but they’re relatively cool and designed to cool me off rather than warm me up (like the hot showers I take in the Winter months).
I guess I’m one of those weirdos in a cold climate who likes finishing off my hot showers with cold water for a couple more minutes. I find it super-refreshing, and can almost relate to the ‘polar bear’ crowd, who seemingly like to finish their saunas off by jumping in to icy water.
I said “almost,” right?
I’ve heard of the polar bear club and I totally get it (although they’re a little too extreme for me). The cold shock of relatively cool water when you’ve just come out of hot water is an exhilarating shock, almost like an adrenaline kick.
Depends on how cold.
When I visited Haiti, a moderately cool shower at the end of the day was heavenly.
Speak for yourself. I take up to three cold showers a day during the hottest summer weeks. In winter I do warm first, then cold. Or during/after sauna <= rolling around in the snow is preferable, but not always possible.
When are cold showers ever anything but disagreeable?
They are always something you put up with.
You have never spent a day doing labor in 54°C / 130°F weather then.
If you can even get cold water through the lines instead of shockingly warm water, it is a blessing.
I hit myself at the end of showers with some cold water: Wakes you right up!
Water will evaporative chill at nearly any temperature.
Yeah I dont think hot climate changes anything - it’s just as bad even then. It’s like going swimming to hole in the ice or rolling in the snow from sauna. The fact that I was in a 80 degree C room just a moment ago doesn’t make it one bit less painful.
