Microslop: “We don’t want you running Windows locally anymore.” Okay. (Installs Linux) Microslop: “WAIT NO THAT’S NOT WHAT WE MEAN”
I don’t understand, we had this in the 90’s and it didn’t work then. No company or user wanted their whole desktop to be offsite.
This is why all internet connected devices all the time is bad. It only leads to this. Should be focusing on how to do things offline as much as possible.
I wouldn’t mind if the whole company just crashes and burns. I can’t think of anything worthwhile they released in recent years. All they have done is make every consumer product worse. Windows, Office, Xbox… all shit now.
Xbox 360 started off as shit when it didnt have backwards compatibility. Scummy. Not that sony is much better but their BC is unmatched.
The article speaks of a “Windows 365 suite of productivity apps” but that doesn’t exist.
There is the “Microsoft 365” suite of office apps, and there is the “Windows 365” offer of a Virtual Machine as SaaS.
It seems the thing that went down was the former and the ill timed announcement concerned the latter.
ai recreates ‘bsod’ for the cloud. fantastic. rebooting server farms. ignore flickering lights
The cloud is just the name for someone else’s computer
They are a big company. Their server security is likely much better than your measly home pc. *"So please do all your banking and company research in our cloudcomputer… " *- (/s for measure)
Their security is only better if you don’t take into account how attractive they are as a target. lol
Or everything that happens in between.
Their server security is likely much better than your measly home pc
At this point it’s on purpose by Micro$lop. The SharePoint vulnerability last year was the prime example of that. They fixed the problem on their servers, then told everyone about it, and released a patch.
Everyone at my work hates SharePoint. No idea why we have it when we have actual servers that work far better.
Microsoft’s computer
My(cro$oft’s) Computer
Me prefer maxi hard computer
The cloud is just the name for someone else’s Linux computer
Fixed that for you.
Streaming cloud PC
Now you just need this $500 device that’s about as powerful as a $75 Roku to stream a virtual PC to your home. You will store all of your data on the cloud where you and everyone else can access it, you will own nothing and we will sell your data for profit. All for just $19.99 a month.
Your PC as a service!
As a bonus, when one persons account is hacked then everyone’s data is exposed! By agreeing to use our service you waive all rights to sue or reclaim any data. You get to pay a monthly fee for accessing your private data, what could be better!
And if you do something we don’t like, we’ll lock you out of your account and all of your data without any recourse!
And it doesn’t work if your ISP decides to shit on you
It‘s really depressing how predictable enshittification has become. Everyone already hates what is coming but its happening regardless.
I have a solution, is anyone interested?
Everyone already hates what is coming but its happening regardless
This is wrong and that’s the main issue. Most people don’t hate it, they are mostly indifferent and some may even think its a good thing. Most won’t notice any difference.
They actively thank Google for keeping their entire location data (maps timeline), why should it be any different with microslop keeping their files “safe”
Problem- humanity is stupid and lazy, and parents dont teach their kids any better because they dont know how.
There’s no solution. It will be idiocracy mixed with running man in about 10 years, probably less.
Microslop
Microflop
Reimagining my ass. You are selling a Citrix knockoff. Fuck off.

Little guy. :( I feel you, buddy.
I hate microslop so fucking much. This whole idea of only the elite monopolies owning all computer power and renting out to us is an affront to humanity.
So glad the idiotic decisions Microsoft makes doesn’t effect my computer. And I’m excited for the rest of the population to make the shift to Linux, at least on their personal computers.
It doesn’t have to be like this, you too can be immune
I have Zorin os on my main laptop and actively migrating my main desktop. Will try to get my kids desktop to Zorin too, his was my test subject for windows 11 and it crashed and burned. Everyday I see more and more issues and performance drops with client computers on win11. One or two I’d chalk up to user errors, but not brand new devices I deploy with 32gb of ram struggling to connect to an RDP session. Fuck windows 11 and all the AI horseshit.
That’s great parenting. My daughter had only known Linux until she started 7th grade this year and got a school windows laptop. She hates that thing with passion. I’m so proud of her 😍
I like to reimagine Microsoft as a company that has zero value. Oh wait, they realised that by themselves!
Great; a return to thin clients. How innovative and revolutionary.
That’s what they want, and there’s what you the customer want.
Prices of items and services affect the difference. They’ve judged they have enough dough to close the gap. I don’t know if they do.
Then, if they do, there’s the stickiness of that state. Or how long until alternative personal computing industry evolves outside of power of those interested in it.
