We know why this happened though. America, under Trump (and not really corrected under Biden), sold off their soft power, allowing other countries to walk all over us intentionally. Meanwhile, Democrats have taken the mantle of neo-liberalism and neo-conservatism, so unless we suddenly elect an entirely progressive government and start to work towards normalizing foreign relationships, the kidnappings will continue.
