Also, to people who’d view that as a positive because hurr durr Trump (I get it): that would lead to President Vance with a mandate to wage a war of revenge. The whole political discussion would suddenly shift from all the damage that Trump has done to USA, to destroying Iran, with a high possibility of giving more strength to republicans.I don’t think causus belli works like that in the modern day, and we haven’t cared about legal mandates for war in the US for like 50 years.
Vance probably won’t have a political mandate for continued war because a historically unpopular and getting more so by the moment president was killed in retaliation for a war he started.
I am not so sure. Trump is an idiot and ignores people’s advice because he thinks hes a genius, so I could see Iranian cells in america coming up with a viable assassination plot. Especially since they are not against kamikazee typed assassinations.

The point Iran is making is that a war does not need billions of dollars of munitions to turn. They can do a lot of damage economically. This world would have been a 20x better place if some kid just aimed 2 inches to the right.
I think about that, and he honestly just shouldn’t have gone for the headshot. At over 70 years old, it’s very unlikely a hollow point to the chest will be survivable.

I never have understood this take. Vance has a lot of evil in him but Trump’s strength lies in having millions of supporters. Vance doesn’t have that. They barely tolerate him. Politics isn’t about just getting into power, you have to have people willing to support your plans. As much as Trump wants it to be, it’s not a dictatorship, and the only reason it looks so much like one is that he has thousands of people in government who will break the law because he wants them to. What reason do we have to think they’d be even half as willing to do that for Vance?
MAGA is a classic Cult of Personality, and Trump is the man. There is no #2, or even an obvious successor. Vance, Rubio, Don Jr, and others all see themselves as the heir apparent, but the MAGA rank & file only love Trump, and when he’s gone, most of them will fade away.
Some may try to keep it together, but their hearts won’t be in it. 90% of the MAGA following will evaporate, leaving only Republicans who sold their souls for the worst president and the most prolific traitor in American history.

He doesn’t have the cult of personality that Trump has. This means Republicans can and will openly challenge him which could destabilize the party.
