To kick things off: morning tennis in a bikini, followed by some time in the pool. I’m having a blast with my summer fling at his place in the south of France.

I don’t see how it’s bragging. Everyone has their own lives, so the answers are bound to vary. It’s 9 a.m. and I was just thinking about how much I enjoy doing this every morning, which got me wondering what other people are into these days.

I don’t know if you’re genuinely curious how you come across to people. Not saying you should not post like you do, I find you amusing and like a fresh breath of air compared to the rest of the crowd here. Anyway my take on it:

        “morning tennis” ok.

" in a bikini" minor thirst trap.

“followed by some time in the pool” minor bragging. Most people don’t have easy access to a pool to bother going every day.

“I’m having a blast with my summer fling at his place in the south of France” Major bragging. Imagine someone stuck at work, if it’s raining they wish it was sunny like in south France and if it’s sunny they wish they could be out in the sun like you. You will trigger a lot of envy with this, and you of any one of us know how much people love the deadly sins.

Gardening has been a big one for me these last two years. But there are better gardens than mine, so I’ll tell you about my guilty pleasure instead.

Back in 2023, I dragged a Suzuki Samurai out of the woods. I only had to cut one tree out of the engine compartment. Since then I’ve been tinkering with it, and a year ago I got it to run well enough to take it out on public roads. I haven’t modified it myself (yet) but it came with a 6" lift, 30" tires, crawler transfer case, bedliner paint job, along with lots of other goodies like a couple of partial engines, another set of axles, a transfer case, a transmission, and lots of other bits and bobs. It’s my weekend vehicle. It’s loud and uncomfortable and barely goes 65 mph but it’s just so much fun.

Tennis in a bikini sounds like a nightmare to me. Why would you want to get overheated?

Chess, and CB/ham radio mostly. I really enjoy yapping over CB radio and taking part in the WWE style drama that happens between big stations in the area. A lot of big personalities with powerful transmitters and colorful on-air handles.

There are a couple of local groups I talk to mainly, but there’s also truckers on channel 19, some local big operators on channel 6 (known as the superbowl), and long distance on single side band.

CB radio occupies the 11 meter band which happens to consistently have really good propogation at certain times of the year / solar cycle, which makes it so you can talk in one place and potentially reach the other side of the world, though usually for short periods depending on location, time of day, transmit power, antenna design, etc. This phenomenon is usually known as “skip” by CBers.

My favorite part of the hobby is trying to chase skip, and talk to operators in other countries. On a good day I’ve spoken from the US to Mexico, France, Canada, Germany and the UK.
