Hard pass on that. Especially since they are selling a code in a box instead of a real physical copy.

I mean, I bought a physical copy of StarCraft 2 back then and it too had a key and the actual physical part was useless anyway. On the other hand, physical copy of Witcher 3 is still perfectly playable.

        “back then”

2010… only a couple years before GTA V came out. We were well into the digital era by then.

Can’t say this affects me bc I was never going to pay more than $20 for it.

I wish everyone else would hold out with me.

GTA 5 burned me on them, my 20 quid will still depend on reviews and if they are doing anything shitty at the time. I expect them to change the deal after the first 6 months at this point.

well, I can’t say I’m surprised they did, but I can’t say it made it any more likely for me to buy the game.

I already disliked the anti linux approach they did with late GTA 5, and I can’t say I was all that impressed as a whole with GTA 5 in regards to the multiplayer first mentality it had.

Also the fact that they are already advertising GTA+ as part of their preorder bonuses has me on full red alert.

This is the first $80 digital only base game. Even Mario Kart World had a physical version.

If my wife is interested in playing it, I’ll pay their extortionate price. If not, I’ll play it once it’s available pirated on PC.

EDIT: It’s rumored there will be an actual physical release in December, so I’ll wait and see what’s happening with that first.

I’d be really impressed if the oppressed gaming world finally decided No, and withheld purchases or even bought a bunch of brave indie games releasing that month. Realistically, I’ll admit that’s probably unlikely. A lot of people have been waiting for this for a long time, and have never heard about things like union busting, haven’t followed the brain drain of every major publisher, etc.
