For anyone lamenting they don’t have a Switch 2, or looking for OoT with QoL improvements for cheaper than whatever Nintendo’s asking price is, there is a free PC port of OoT that will run as fast as your hardware can handle it without messing up gameplay speed etc, has a ton of switchable QoL features, and has mod support for using 3DS (and better) graphics/models. You can even use Master Quest’s edited dungeons with all the benefits of the 3DS version.
It’s called Ship of Harkinian. All you have to do is provide a copy of the game ROM.
Thanks! I might play this until November.
Thank you for entertainment.

Never played the orig (never had a console after the Atari 2600), but as much as I’ve hears of the zelda-games, it’s probably worth a shot?
A pirated ROM will probably do fine too? Before even thinking of giving nintendo a single Buck.
Thanks either way!
Haven’t played it as well, but according to metacritic it’s the best game ever:

Sounds solid. Hopefully it aged better than the 2600 games 😁
Other people already answered your question, so gotta ask. What’s your favorite 2600 game? I gotta go with Missile Command if I had to pick.
In hindsight I don’t really know how we could justify paying 50€ for 10 pixels and two beeps 😁 but I’d say pacman? Was my first beside pong.
Still have the cartridges in my cabinet 😍
Okay so. A primer on the Zelda franchise:
Nintendo dislikes video games with stories, and they nakedly hate video game franchises with overall lore. Nintendo wants to make video games that are mechanically fun, “it’s fun to jump on the thing.” “It’s fun to swing a sword ad the thing.” “It’s fun to throw a ball at the thing.” Look no farther than their primary flagship franchise, the Mario series, for games with an excuse plot and highly polished primary gameplay loops. You can tell they truly, madly, deeply resent their secondary flagship franchise, the Zelda series, for being a more narrative driven adventure saga that attracts gamers who like deep overall lore.
Ocarina of Time is the most important game in the Zelda series’ deep overall lore.
The best example of this mentality is the release of the Hyrule Historia timeline, immediately followed by Aonuma going “sure we’re totes paying attention to the timeline for BOTW, so it’s totes obvious where it should be”, before eventually admitting that they did nothing of the sort.
I play SoH all the time! It’s awesome! But how do you get the master quest stuff in it? SoH doesn’t accept the master quest ROM.
Last I checked you can import it when you first run it, or from an option menu somewhere, and it adds it to the options you have when starting a new save. I just followed instructions from the GitHub.
Apparently if you have a supported ROM (check here) you just drop it in the same folder as the exe to import it.
Hmm, ok I’ll have to take another look cause I tried that and it didn’t work for me. I thought I had a valid ROM but maybe not.
Another option is the Ocarina of Time 3D single screen hack for 3DS. Less messing around required.
