Right after the news of BioWare’s death. Hmm looks like a PR move to me.
Bioware has barely released any descent games in over a decade. EA did not kill them.
…but Mass Effect 5 was their return to form! Didn’t you see the Trailer that alone was a result of 5 years work ! /s
I know you jest, but a lot of the original devs were back for that project and had they not been pulled for other recent EA projects, we might have had something substantial at this point.
Also, Andromeda devs kept getting pulled into Anthem, and Anthem devs were a group of RPG devs tasked with a new engine and forced to create an open world game within a studio not know for that. So, Andromeda failed because of Anthem, and Anthem failed because of the engine and lack of experience. Veilguard failed because the lessons of Inquisition were never learned.
Anyway, I’m sure EA will allow yet another set of remakes/remasters of Mass Effect once/if the next Gen of consoles are released.
Veilguard also had EA demand complete genre shifts twice in production. Immersive sim -> Live Service Co-op Action -> Singleplayer RPG. The final game was a ton of finished art and half-baked mechanics with a story tacked on at the last minute.
EA didn’t do that, GOG did right? Sure EA may have collaborated but they didn’t do the work.
I’ve never seen GOG improvements to a game also get added to the Steam version. Has that happened before on other games? I heard the Steam versions also get the improvements, as well as integrated community improvements as well.
First time for everything. When GOG announced these upgrades they also said this was the first step toward their publisher efforts. It sounds like they’re starting up a publishing arm using these games as their first release. So in that context, yes it makes sense that they would release these on other platforms.
The showcase even stated that GOG worked with modders and other developers to get this work done. Plus, GOG had been doing this type of work for a while now with their preservation program.
Wonder if they require the EA launcher
All the ones I could see on ea’s website made it to GOG, which I don’t think allows launchers tied to accounts, so it’s possible they don’t.

EA sold out, meh
So they’re testing whether 7 movie players get downloaded or 1 actually game? Is this AB testing?
Sadly I owned Wing Commander back in the day. I must have played it for at least an hour all up.
Uh ok
