The dude is apparently quite the spender but goddamnit he’s one of the most talented and versatile actors ever.
Are there any movies where he just phones it in?
Not that I’m aware of.
Keep going strong you magnificent maniac hahah.
Everyone seems to agree that half of his movies is completely terrible and the other half is awesome. But nobody can ever agree on which movies belong to which half.
I think everyone can agree that The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent belonged in the awesome half. Him and Pedro Pascal had such amazing on screen chemistry.
I found it to be a let down, actually. It should have been great, but somehow it wasn’t.
Most of them full into the “they’re so bad they’re good” bin
I think the Wickerman remake is just actually a good movie. Yes, its so over the top at times that you are laughing at how absurd some scenes are, but its also still horrifying. Its an actual enjoyable experience that is not as formulaic as many other ‘horror movies that are so bad theyre funny’.
Same with Face Off, but its so absurd its funny and also still a good action movie.
Mandy? I honestly think its also a great movie.
I have not seen /everything/ Cage has been in… but everything I have seen that stars him basically either is a good movie, or is a stupid movie that is made hilarious by Cage’s acting.
Everything (that I’ve seen) that doesnt star Cage but just features him as a more minor character? His bit or bits are incredible.
face off is a masterpiece
And he never phones it in. He’s a National Treasure!
Private Islands and Triceratops skulls don’t pay for them selves.
The amount of people that don’t know there’s no ‘h’ in Nicolas Cage is too god damn high.
The amount of people that don’t know he took all these roles to avoid bankruptcy is also quite high
Yep and nowadays he’s actually doing one banger after the other.
i wish i had that option
Shit, if I was being offered millions to be in shit movies I’d 100% say yes to every one.
Michael Caine famously said, when being asked if he had seen some bad movie he was in: “No, but I’ve seen the house that it built.”
Jaws 4 “Ive not seen the movie, Ive heard its terrible. But I’ve seen the house it built and its fantastic”
My two most recent faves of his were “Mandy” and that five nights at Freddy’s ripoff, “Willy’s Wonderland”. I unironically enjoyed his performance in both, though Mandy is fantastic on its own.
Willy’s Wonderland is a strange one. I can’t believe they made it work without him speaking a single line of dialogue.
I think he purposefully picks roles where he can go wild which tends to correspond with ridiculous movies.
I hope this is the right spot to post Cage clips. Here he is channelling the soul of large corporations. You can tell this is from several years ago because he doesn’t end with a line like, “We here at the Nestle family thank you for your diligence”.
I hope this is the right spot to post Cage clips.
Every thread is the right place to post Cage clips.
amen. where’s our one true god community
Casting Agent: … there is a XXXXXX rating for this upcoming film with a Bollywood director, a $200 million budget from Russian oligarchs, being filmed in Turkey with a story set in space and there seems to only be an all male crew of five people … it stipulates there should be a minimum of three motorcycle chase scenes, a space battle, one scene where there is hand to hand combat with Vladamir Putin and Putin wins, another fight scene with Joe Biden but Biden is actually a ninja robot, 3/4 of budget is dedicated to a grand finale where they blow up the moon and the hero has to be blind but telepathic
Cage: … I’m in
When is this movie out? I’ll make time to go see it.
They are planning on filming four sequels concurrently, along with two prequels, a four season Netflix series and a Japanese production house will also work on an Amazon productions anime spin-off show.
Nicolas Cage is one of my guilty pleasures…
- I love his character in Matchstick men
- He was my favourite Travolta in Face/Off
- Vampire’s kiss… Chef’s kiss
- Leaving Las Vegas. Come on… Brilliant!
Your not alone. I unironically enjoy almost every nick cage movie.
one of my favorite movies… is family man. After lord of war, face off, and the rock. promise.
I just watched family man a few months ago. Holy shit he plays a good scum ball.
The problem is no one has been writing the scripts where cage is needed until now . I thought the unbearable weight of massive talent was neat
Dream Scenario was actually pretty good mainly because of his acting!
My and my buddies still yell " I LOVE IT GARY " at every bad idea.
