Why are these tankers not subject to sanctions if their ownership is so well-known that Lloyd’s can report on it with absolute certainty?

The people who would create the sanctions are the same people funding the dictators. There are no well-defined sides anymore based on political philosophy or anything else. It’s just two powers in the world now, the wealthy and the religious fanatics. Both prefer dictators because it’s easier to keep a single dictator distracted with political toil who will then keep the people distracted with meaningless hate-driven decisiveness. Much easier for the tiny minority to keep power than actually running functioning economies and centrist or left wing political structures of any kind.

There are lots of wealthy religious fanatics. Can you make your Venn diagram intersection smaller by providing more detail?

Oh, yeah, but the wealthy generally only pretend so they can use the religious fanatics as opposed to actually being one. But even the less wealthy religious fanatics still have we power. So definitely crossover, but not entirely singular.

Did Russia think the ship wouldn’t be intercepted or something? Seems odd to burn this ship to cut that cable.

The company’s website claims the company be registered in England

I like how the author briefly breaks character and reveals themself as a 19th century pirate.

We have been de facto at war for a while. And world War 3 has already been raging for years now. Just none of it is presently like the movies and fiction told people what it would be.

Depending on what America decides to do the next year could see a change in that. Russia and Europe could start shooting at each other sooner than anyone wants to admit. Not because Europe is itching to get into a nuclear war. But more because Russia is a dying nation and will act more and more erratic as they lose control of their empire.

I wouldn’t say WW3 is raging, but you could argue we are back in another cold war.

its far beyond cold war. Russia, while not the primary opponent of America see China, is engaged in full scale war with a neighbor who’s being pumped full of weaponry for its defense, and the Europeans are panicking , realizing they have an existential crisis on their hands. Both sides are committing acts of war against each other on the regular.

and elsewhere, the Israeli/Arab/Iranian conflict more or less has battle lines driven between countries that are allied with Russia and ones that aren’t, While they aren’t helping each other, Ukraine and Israel are both facing off against Russian/Iranian Forces and their proxies.

I say we’re fighting WW3 right now, because the allegory of 2022-present is comparable to either the Spanish Civil war, or the Sino-Japanese war, both conflicts that saw direct confrontation involving the aggressor in testing grounds for the future

okay you are right about that I feel the cold war was so because of the open hostility between the pair where this time half our politicians have Russian or Chinese nuts in their mouth and vice versa we’re much more intertwined

Yeah I saw it reported in a few online publications all crediting Lloyd’s as the source. I think it took longer to hit mainstream news because of the holidays. FYI, I didn’t think it was to embarrass Russia, I’m just leary of war propaganda (remember Ghost of Kiev?) and anything click-baity. Actual news reporting/opinion/bullshit all look the same online. Nobody wants to pay for anything anymore and that doesn’t help
