There are rice cookers that can weight the rice then add water themselves. You put the rice in and set the time, it will add water automatically when it’s time to cook.
Maybe my rice cooker isn’t expensive enough. It’s a mid range one that does a pretty good job, but if I leave it on warm for a long while after finishing the rice turns to shit. I buy more expensive/good rice and don’t like it getting ruined.
A rice cooker takes like 20-30m, who’s sleeping while they make rice?..
Some rice cooker has a built in schedular. You can program it to cook at certain time.
So is the rice soaking in water overnight?
Soaking rice is often recommended! Even overnight. I’m too lazy for that but I soak mine for 30-60 min before cooking.
You might want to sit down for this.

Does it work with beans
No, just water.
Why are you waiting the rice cooker to finish? it’s usually automatically changed to warmer mode after the cooking is done.
And let it burn to the bottom? Nah, as soon as I hear that click I’m Usain Bolt on my way to unplug that thing
My cheap rice cooker burns it if I wait for the click. I set a timer on my watch for 12.5 minutes and haul-ass back to the kitchen to unplug it.
You’re missing out on that good Tahdig.

That’s what happens to all the rice I cook too, but it takes a few hours.
Uncle Roger approves
My rice cooker can hold stuff on warm for literally days…
A good Tiger/Cuckoo/Zojirushi should be able to do that no problem.
