There are protests and people mobbing ice agents and standing in front of the boxcars and stuff. In LA/Paramount there were enough that they shit their pants and called daddy for backup. It’s not really possible for these remote farming communities to have mobs of people overwhelming ice because there just aren’t that many people in the middle of nowhere farms.

100% this. There’s been resistance everywhere over this. Minnesota drove out a bunch of ICE agents from their neighborhoods, there’s been major protests all over the US about it. Like… we’re for sure doing it.
ICE is sneaking around the back roads in my city, and a local network sends out warning messages to local immigrants. I’m looking into what I can do as a citizen to make it more difficult for ICE, but I’m impressed by the messaging network that has been set up.
Be sure to let them know about privacy services. Don’t want them to be tracked doing the lords work.

WhatsApp doesn’t really have as much of the baggage that the rest of Meta does, but it is still their product, so I would move if possible. Signal is another good app to get people on. At least if there is a “core” team that is sourcing and redistributing info around should be made aware of privacy and anonymity, so that the network does not get decapitated so to speak.
The Hated One is a good youtube channel with resources around protesting. The guy is a bit of a paranoid, but his points still stand. He has some vids on how to make a burner phone. Some mesh network apps, and some info about removing metadata on digital files that might get shared around.
As we get serious about protesting we need to be serious about our digital and physical security. We don’t want to use pages that can be taken down, nor do we want to give information that will allow ICE to take down our resistance networks in detail.

The local Hispanic community started the message chain for the local Hispanic community, and they definitely have the system worked out amazingly: I get messages (in Spanish) about the presence of ICE in specific locations, as well as messages quashing false rumors about ICE. I know people in this organization are even following ICE vehicles around and messaging covertly… I mean, it’s just super impressive. Every undocumented immigrant I have asked (I know a lot) is already connected to this message group. I don’t know that an app would improve it in any way?
Though, the group seems to be using some sort of program because when I signed up I got a few automated messages asking for some of my information, and I know that multiple people are messaging through this number with notifications.

Most of the food you see growing anywhere else isn’t for people, it’s for livestock.

I think you are overestimating just how much food “the land” can provide. You need around an acre a person for subsistence farming, and that is assuming you live in a region that has a decent climate, that you have irrigation, and have access to modern fertilizer and pesticides.
As far as hunting and fishing goes… If a large sector of the population had to live off the land, the wildlife likely wouldn’t last a single season. The only reason we still have the wild animal populations we currently have is because there are strict regulations monitoring the amount of people who hunt and fish.
Early Americans were able to devastate a larger healthier ecology with a tiny fraction of our current population. Most of our country’s natural Forrest and woodland were already destroyed and artificially rehabilitated over a hundred years ago. We have very few old growth Forrest for us to actually live off of.
If it weren’t for petrochemical fertilizer the natural nitrogen cycle wouldn’t be enough to sustain our current population. Since the invention of the haber process in the 1930s we are all just a bad year away from food insecurity.

This isn’t something we have to guess about, there’s plenty of examples of intentional famines like what the Brits did to Bengal, and the Irish, or the Soviets in Ukraine, and unintentional like during China’s cultural revolution. I’d be careful with that last point - when a modern people is suddenly forced to turn to the land for sustenance instead of the industrial supply chain, overfishing and overhunting become problems quickly…you won’t be the only person out looking for a meal.
