The shooting happened after the Department of Homeland Security sent more than 2,000 ICE agents to the Twin Cities in the "largest DHS operation ever."
I can’t start a revolution by myself, I’ll be arrested and you’ll be the first to condemn me and say “we need to peacefully resolve this by voting for Democrats in the next election!”
It’s not “tough talk”, I said nothing tough. But there is no willingness to do what it takes, it’s very obvious what it takes, just look at history and see how people defeat fascists, there’s only one way it ever works, and it’s never by voting to the complicit second in power political party.
The reason we’re fucked is because people express voting in the midterms as their hope, instead of signaling to each other that they’re willing to do what it takes. But that’s uncomfortable and cuts into your apple tv time or whatever you waste your evenings on.
As far as me, couldn’t help you if I wanted. I’m not in the US, I’m just watching the empire collapse. I’d prefer Americans do something positive with their country and turn it into a force for good, but collapsing is still a net positive for the world. I saw we are fucked because my country’s currency is stupidly still pegged to the USD, and when that crashes it’ll fuck with our economy too.
But hey, at least you shot back at me and lol’ed and dismissed me as throwing peanuts, you’re doing your part! Keep worshipping complicit genocidal Democrats and hoping they save you.
Ah, and ladies & gentlemen — there it is. The convenient cop-out. Good friend, for your country pegged to the USD, you are but a mere plane-ticket away! (cue next excuse)
But hey, keep throwing peanuts from the peanut gallery and pretend you know better; though best not to say “we” if you’re not going to be in the fight, yeah buddy? ;)
You’re saying I should book a flight to start a revolution in your country on your behalf because my country that’s been ravaged by American imperialism pegged its currency to the petrodollar?
Okay, deal, I’ll join. I’ll be your Che, but you have to be Fidel first.
I know it’s hard for you Americans to think of the rest of the world as even human, but we’re affected by your empire and we are in this shit together. But you’re on the front lines, and you need to fight instead of hiding behind complicit neo-liberals who use you as rhetoric to serve the same fascist capitalist class. We are fucked because of your inaction and apathy.
By all means, please proceed with throwing peanuts from the peanut gallery from far away, and I’ll continue calling out one’s Chamberlain-like excuses.
Silly wedge-driving tankies.

Holy shit straight to calling me Russian, hope original.
I’m an American citizen, for what it’s worth. A Palestinian American, and I don’t view it as my duty to fight to save your empire when you think genociding my people is the “lesser evil”.
When you wake up and fight for humanity, I’ll join you. Until then, first they came for the communists and all that…
I always vote, down to the lowest of local elections. I’ve never missed any and will always remain active.
But I do disagree with you. If you know your broad human history, you should know that there’s nothing that indicates that we’re guaranteed a solution. You seem to not realize that there very well may not be a good solution at all. You have to be more realistic.
Keep voting of course. will too. But overall I think we’re probably fucked.
What about that broader human history? Not the first time someone has said “I rule forever now” and the population said “the fuck you aren’t”. Make sure that history is not “The people of X could do nothing against the evil power of dictator Y, until the US swooped in and saved everyone”
It’s about moves, not solutions. You’re hardly ever out of things to do. No matter how small, the important part is to keep trying. Focusing on the ineffability* of finding a solution is just pointless and counterproductive. Don’t think of what must be done in the sense of what’s “correct”, because there’s no such thing. “History offers no control groups”, so you can only try and do what you believe the right thing is. Looking away definitely isn’t.
I also didn’t say you said that tbh. Not sure where you got that from?
* anti-prententiousness disclaimer, sometimes I have to look up words I think of in my native language in the dictionary to see if they exist and seem close enough. Something out of “the reach of your mind”
Film critics can throw peanuts from the peanut gallery but nobody actually cares what they think if they don’t show they can make something better or even elucidate how to improve on the current script.
I’m not saying they can’t make such comments; but as a call to action? In terms of obvious suggestive stochastic rhetoric? That’s Chamberlain talk. Plain and simple.
In a way, it’s like they’re preaching to a choir of fellow critics who all agree the film sucks. But they don’t offer any substantive way to improve it. Instead they just cry and complain to other film critics to find a way to make it better, or just keep yelling at the director to do something. Nobody likes these people.
That is your requirements and not the rest of ours. I have watched critics not add anything, we are empathetic creatures, sometimes we want to know how others feel, not just what they think.
I am honestly fine with people crying about it being bad and preaching to the choir cause it makes for a more full sounding song.
I dont require everyone that says anything to always be productive and I would ask you to ask yourself why you think that is normal to require from everyone else.
Nope, not me. I am not fine with falsely equating film critics analyzing a film already completed to stochastic antagonists prodding what has yet to come.
Besides, like I said even if we entertain this false analogy, in a way, it’s like they’re preaching to a choir of fellow critics who all agree the film sucks. But they don’t offer any substantive way to improve it. Instead they just cry and complain to other film critics to find a way to make it better, or just keep yelling at the director to do something. lol you’re holding the line by waiting for Democrats to save you in the midterms? THIS is why we’re fucked.
By all means, tell me your better plan – and by the way – you first.
Lots of tough talk from those throwing peanuts form the peanut gallery, I tell you h’wat lol.
I can’t start a revolution by myself, I’ll be arrested and you’ll be the first to condemn me and say “we need to peacefully resolve this by voting for Democrats in the next election!”

Go to sleep, wedge-driving tankies.
You’re saying I should book a flight to start a revolution in your country on your behalf because my country that’s been ravaged by American imperialism pegged its currency to the petrodollar?

Read some non colonial history books.

In my opinion this is a very different sentiment than what was expressed above, and I am largely in agreement with you.
There might not be a better plan, if that’s a a clearer way to say it.
(I don’t mean that sarcastically, no tone of voice on the internet).
What about that broader human history? Not the first time someone has said “I rule forever now” and the population said “the fuck you aren’t”. Make sure that history is not “The people of X could do nothing against the evil power of dictator Y, until the US swooped in and saved everyone”
Nowhere in my response did I say “humans have a 0% success rate.” Quote me if I did.
I said you can’t ignore that sometimes we fail, and there simply isn’t a solution, which you can’t ignore. Especially if you do want to succeed.
It’s about moves, not solutions. You’re hardly ever out of things to do. No matter how small, the important part is to keep trying. Honestly, to me this is the trolling attitude, not “waiting to vote will not save you”.
Saying “No, we are having elections whether you want it or not” very well might though.
Can we stop thinking everyone that criticized something needs to have a complete plan on how to make it better?
Film critics can will make bad movies, authors dont make good politicians and musicians bad therapists.
Someone can speak aloud the truth and be critical and not have a plan. That is what the collective is for.
Fuck. Stop asking for superman.
Film critics can throw peanuts from the peanut gallery but nobody actually cares what they think if they don’t show they can make something better or even elucidate how to improve on the current script.
