I keep telling people these aren’t distractions. Iran might’ve started that way, but Venezuela, Mexico, now Cuba, and probably anywhere else in the Caribbean or South America that doesn’t play ball with the regime - these are wars of expansion. Trump wants more things he can point to and say “I did that” and doing colonialism by proxy like we did with Venezuela already looks easy, and it generates your name in the news an awful lot. Never mind that all the companies and expats and their kids are still sore about being forced off the island at gunpoint by the revolution, and the CIA is definitely STILL wanting payback for the Bay of Pigs.
