Not talking about obvious things like crime.
I mean things that people just accept as part of life.
Things everyone does, but when you really think about it, it actually makes no sense.
In the US its spending so much money on high school sports when teachers go without needed teaching materials.

Organized religion. Pick whichever one you want.
My [insert being here] is the ultimate being and yours isn’t and doesn’t exist. Why? Because my [insert meatbag here] wrote that down a [arbitrary time] ago.
Nevermind most of these effectively “preach the same thing.” No really. Nevermind it. Because do they follow those words? God(s) no.
Eating food with ingredients in it that we don’t recognize, sold and possibly heated in a plastic container.
Using proprietary software.
You have no idea what it does. You’re just going to trust it to not collect information, mine bitcoin, or turn your computer into a botnet node? You’re okay with not being able to study and change the software you use?
You’re okay being livestock in a pasture with fences erected by corporations to keep you a consumer rather than a user?

Hunting. I really don’t get how killing animals can be seen as a hobby like any others.
There are some states with an overpopulation of deer and the like and they atually heavily encourage hunting. The other side is that a lot of hunters like to know where their meat is from and how it is sourced.
I know quite a few hunters that only eat the meat the or friends have hunted and refuse to support factory farming. I know thats probably not the majority but it is more than you’d think. I was raised vegetarian and still am but i have trained to and gotten licensed to hunt in multiple states just in case.
There are definitely some folks just in it for the love of the game though. That and rare game hunting is insane to me. Some of the rare game resorts are really “ethical” and charge shit tons of money per kill and then donate that to conservation efforts but it still feels weird and like probably not the best conservation method lol
The over population isn’t natural around here. They are allowed to bait the hole. They feed the deer year round so they know where they will be when its time to kill them. I call them deer farmers.
Where I live too, there are too many deers, but I suspect hunters to let it happen. If they really wanted to, that wouldn’t be a problem since a long time. And they lobby local authorities for they let it go, despite forestry people’s complaints (they are a calamity to trees).
Their meat is not even that good, or let’s say I wouldn’t like to eat deer meat all year long.
Have you seen how much food is on some of those things? But I live in the UK so hunting laws are mainly for the rich.
installing apps for everything
Killing animals for pleasure is fucking abhorrent.
In the USA… health insurance. Its fucking insane that we all accept a private sector tax on our existence, because whatever the fuck has assed reason.
Let me blow your mind … Insurance companies decide whether or not you get medical procedures … and the people that make that choice have ZERO medical training … and their choice overrides a doctors opinion.
Another Luigi or two could help fix this. The government sure as fuck won’t.
Agreed, green plumber did nothing wrong.
His only mistake was not bringing more bullets
Yeah it is nuts, I used to do tech support for a company that made millions doing those negotiations.
there were estimated to be about 100 million people in the us in 2020 (the most recent numbers i could find, but it’s certainly higher now), that were not eligible to vote despite being bound by the countries laws. if you’re gonna tax people, and pass laws impacting them, they should at the bare minimum get a say in who gets to be the representatives making those decisions.
Here’s my breakdown, numbers from Wikipedia, for estimates and purposes of discussion:
Total population: 340 million Eligible voters: 245 million Turnout: 155 million
Children can’t vote, that’s 70 million. Convicted felons and other non-eligible citizens make up another 20 million.
Are you suggesting that children should vote? (I do believe that convicts should have the right to vote, but that’s only 20 million.)
If you take a one week trip to Argentina, should you be able to vote while there? Youre bound by their laws after all.
sure, why not?
Shaking hands. Why the fuck must someone touch me to say hello? How about a head nod and a 'sup?? Not a germ thing either. Just no touchie.
Finance. I sit in an office 40 hours a week to make my foobar number go up. Other people will give me things, but make my foobar number go down. At one point someone gave me a building, but made my number go down to the point where I had less than no foobars. And because I owed the right kind of foobars to the right kind of people, other people were willing to pretend I had foobars.
Not leveraging solar energy, which abundant , decentralized, and is the cheapest unit of energy there is.
Would love to get a battery to make use of off peak rates but with the labour cost as well it would take ages to pay for its self, I don’t use that much energy which is also part of it.
Could get a large camping battery and do it myself for the rest of the house which at least eliminates labour rates. But the heat pump would still use mains power. I suspect replacing our windows would be a better investment and is on our to do list.
Have laws that get applied differently based on gender, race, and religious beliefs. Wild that it’s a real thing.
Don’t forget social status!
