    I don’t need an alarm.

I wake up every few hours regardless.

And I’m always awake about 20 minutes before my alarm, no matter that time I set it to.

    Existence is pain

Set your alarm to 20 minutes after you want to wake up. Come on, that was easy.

I’ve legitimately tried that, even tried no alarm at all.

The no alarm is a bad idea just because every so often I just sleep right on through, if I’ve had a particularly harsh day.

I think my brain just goes “you sneaky fuck, I know you REALLY want to get up at 7 so we are getting up at 630ishjust to be sure.”

I don’t think there’s a bigger bliss in this world than waking up randomly at night, looking over at the clock and realizing it’s still early as fuck so you can go back to sleep 🤤

There is, it’s waking up early thinking you’re late to work / school only to realize you’ve woken early and today is your day off

Me when I have morning meetings, every time without fail. I specifically ask people don’t schedule shit until 10AM because of this, and most people are chill with it, thankfully.

cross time zone teams means my pointless standup meetings are either set at sharp 9 am or even earlier, fucking bullshit.

I had team members outside of the US, hopefully my next job is better, but with all the outsourcing these days, I have little hope of even landing a job,let alone one where everyone I need to work with is local

If I don’t get up before 8:30am or so, my husky will softly grumble until I get up. The grumbles get progressively louder.

    Edited to add A video!

That’s basically everyone with a decent routine, no? I go to bed the same time, so I wake up the same time. The alarm is just for backup.

If anyone has trouble sleeping/waking with a set routine, there’s probably other factors at play like interrupted sleep cycles or sleep apnea.

I get up at the same time every weekday and it’s just programmed into my body to get up then or an hour later on weekends. It took 40 years to develop this superpower.

I usually wake up around 5-10 mins prior to my alarm if I slept the right amount (around 6 hours). In the rare occassion I get woken up by my alarm I feel the rest of the day like shit (very tired, annoyed at evrything, very sensitive to light, need 10 coffees to survive).

Same. If I am in a good sleep routine, I consistently wake up about 10 minutes before the alarm goes off, especially in the spring and summer. In winter I am somewhat more likely to immediately fall back asleep because I don’t hear the birds chirping.

It really sucks when it doesn’t work though. I used to wake up 5 minutes before my alarm like clockwork, and then ONE day I didn’t set it. Well, guess what phone call I get that lovely morning.
