Remember this, service men and women, when you are given your orders to oppress us.

You are also one of the oppressed.

Fascist dictators don’t have loyalty, soldier. That’s a key element to them.

Army Sgt. Ayssac Correa had just started his day at the 103rd Quartermaster Company outside of Houston on the morning of March 13 when he got a phone call from his sister-in-law.

She worked at the same company as Correa’s wife and had just pulled into the parking lot to see three ICE agents handcuffing her.

“They’re taking Shirly away!” she told him.

Imagine getting that call. We’ve definitely become evil.

My wife is Mexican-American. She was born here, and I fear that call. ICE is rounding up everyone that they “suspect” is undocumented. I’m afraid that she’ll get picked up and lost in the system before I can bring proof of citizenship.

What ICE is doing is evil. I can’t believe this is my country after only a few months, and I fear what will happen in a few years.

the proof doesn’t matter when they’re not bothering to check; ask kilmar obrego garcia.

i had family members that were born and raised in this country and deported during the last bought of xenophobia that this country went through during ww2; the most recent one ended up living out the rest of his life and dying in mexico.

It’s not we that have become evil. I think it’s imperative that people properly consider who is doing the evil shit.

Many years ago I was visiting some country in Central America, and they were not angry that I was American even though the American government had done horrible things to their country, because they knew that I had no control over what those crazy motherfuckers did.

And that doesn’t mean that everyone is powerless, that we shouldn’t try to make a difference. That’s a different conversation.

“Me being in the military—I felt bad that it was happening, because I’m also married to somebody who’s going through the [immigration] process. But I was like, ‘Oh, there’s no way this is going to happen to us,’” he said.

That misconception is common, immigration attorneys and advocates told The War Horse. But in reality, there is no guaranteed path to citizenship for undocumented military family members—and no guaranteed protections against deportation.

And that’s how you know exactly who that idiot voted for. Now he’s getting the day he asked for, and it’s no longer fun.

But on that morning in March, Guardado got a strange phone call at work. Some sort of public safety officer had dialed her office and wanted her to come outside to talk. In the parking lot, three men in plain clothes identified themselves as Department of Public Safety officers, Correa told The War Horse. As Shirly approached, they said her car had been involved in an accident. But when she got close, they grabbed her and handcuffed her, telling her they were ICE agents.

    Can’t trust anyone.

Daughter: Daddy, why do you work for the people who kidnapped Mommy? Correa: I don’t, sweetheart. I’m in the Army. The Army doesn’t deport people. ICE does. Daughter: They both take orders from the president, though, right? Correa: well, yeah. Daughter: So, why do you work for the man who ordered ICE to kidnap Mommy? Correa: …

the issue was already personal, pitting service against citizenship

For the record, no, it’s pitting unconstitutional orders against sworn duty.

I don’t want the military to decide any outcomes, but I do think just about time they let everyone involved know that the military’s only loyalty is to the people and the constitution. Yes, they take orders from the president, but we have checks and balances for a reason, and I’d feel better if the military just stated plainly their primary goal is to keep it that way.
