Glad she broke up with him, what an abusive piece of shit.

This doesn’t even claim that. “She broke my heart” could be “she wouldn’t send me Snapchat nudes” or some garbage

I mean yes, that’s without question, I’m just pointing out that the comment is acting as if there was already some pre-existing relationship between them, when that’s not laid out, and it literally could just be “I met a girl I wanted to have sex with and she denied me, so I will use my family ties to the police to harass her.”

Also, if this is the US, underage generally means under 21. If this is another country, underage could mean under 18, which just makes it worse

The cops? Abusing their authority? Selectively enforcing laws to engage in personal vendettas against people? They would never! /s

An NYPD spokesperson said the agency “will review the lawsuit if and when we are served.”

e.g. “we’re hoping this gets shut down before it ever reaches our lawyers”

A PBA spokesperson did not comment directly on the cards but said in a statement that the union “does not set policies regarding the way that police officers perform their duties. […] The law and NYPD policies afford police officers discretion in taking enforcement action”

e.g. we would never codify this, that would be proof of corruption, instead it’s just an unwritten rule we can use to support further corruption

Probably. The culture here is not much different than in the states (lived in the states for 12 years). I’d guess more rural parts of Canada will have this. In my small town out east people stop to chat with their officer friends. The police here are scarce since we don’t have our own department and just use RCMP. I feel safer seeing less police cars.

My experience, living in Canada and travelling a lot to the states for work things and also around canada for work, is that the culture similarities are entirely dependent on what state you are in, and what province.

If the answer they expected isn’t “no” then they’re probably a psychopath, just like their brother.

I mean this is also how my best friend and I talk.

I find a cool car on marketplace and instead of texting “Hey, check this out” I say “You should buy this for me or Ill tell them where we buried the hookers.”

Apparently amoral behavior that builds a psychology of imperviousness leads to being a cop, not just after they become one.

This comment section just demonstrates that lemmy may have a disproportionately large number of neuro diverse individuals who cannot understand a hypothetical situation for the purpose of a joke.

Pull that stick out of your asses, people.

No, we all understand it’s supposed to be a joke. But just like racist jokes or holocaust jokes, we recognize it as tasteless, out of touch, ignorant, and immoral.

You are the only one here who doesn’t “understand”.

Well, you don’t abandon an established watering hole (Reddit) you poured your soul in over the years for ideological differences or for inconveniencing you by killing your favourite client if you are typical - hell you’d only be using the official client to begin with.
