Hey Mods, if Hitler was President would you censor anything calling to rise up and harm him too before or after The Holocaust? Just asking questions here.

Just to note this is also direction from the admin team on .world. Until significant push back, jury nullification wasn’t permitted to be mentioned (despite precedence of its legality), as well as a rule to allow all opinions, regardless of the rules of the community. This was also pushed back on, and will be back after they re-word it.

          This is .world at large.

          Edit: typo

I’m kind of a Lemmy noob. I just realized I have a .world after my name. How do I move and where do you suggest?

Depends on what you’re looking for in a server tbh. And there are others who would probably be more familiar than me.

db0 (instance I’m on) is great for F/LOSS, piracy, anarchism/leftists, lemm.ee for a generalist instance, blahaj for a fantastic queer community and firmly moderated safe space, etc.

You can export where youre subscribed, but your history won’t move. So feel free to just make an account somewhere if it piques your interest, and go from there

Edit: Somehow missed a solid 2/3 of what I was saying about db0

Would you like to pay to move the server to a country with free speech laws or do you just expect the people paying for the server you are using free of charge to do that on your behalf?

A better question to ask is “what are the laws surrounding direct threats of targeted violence in my nation and in the nation where the servers are?”

No instance owner should have to deal with harassment from the state because of a rando’s comments.

Yes, dissent is healthy and important. That’s my point. Have you looked at what dubvee.org is doing?

They scan the fediverse for comments that violate whatever code they claim to enforce. Then they instance ban those offenders from their instance and all of their subs. Then they tag that user in their ban of shame wall.

For example, I am tagged there as banned for something like “advocating assassination” like 8 months ago. And I had no idea they were even doing this.

This was long before the whole Luigi thing. And before both Trump assassination attempts.

I can’t even tell what comment I made that would justify them to slander me in such a way. Because they never told me.

Go ahead and look up my username in their ban log over there, see if you can figure it out. Maybe look up your own username. You might be surprised to find out what they are saying about you.

They are either the SRS of Lemmy, or some truthsocial data collection operation.

Biden wasn’t able to fire a simple postmaster, but somehow Trump found out he had the power to fire the board at the Kennedy center?

If someone like Putin did this, republicans would call it dictatorial over reach, since Trump did it, it is patriotic.

People go on stage to do a bunch of tributes to the honoree when those happen and I don’t even want to know what those would be in that case.

If you know Richard Pryor’s work and have not seen Morgan Freeman doing Mudbone at Pryor’s Kennedy Center Mark Twain Prize, it’s awesome.

So the self-appointed arbiter of American culture stumbles into another vanity project, replacing seasoned trustees with his golden-framed portrait. Drag shows for youth suddenly eclipse actual issues—because nothing unites a crumbling democracy like pearl-clutching over sequins and lip-syncing. The Kennedy Center’s new “vision” boils down to erasing anything that doesn’t smell like 1950s nostalgia and rebranding nepotism as patriotism.

Artistic merit now hinges on loyalty oaths. Meanwhile, actual policy disasters get a standing ovation. But sure, let’s pretend this isn’t a textbook narcissist playbook—appointing oneself chairman of anything is just dictator-lite cosplay. The “Golden Age” he’s selling? More like gilded decay.

he doesn’t give one shit about the kennedy center. he’s the first and only president/first lady to completely avoid its kennedy center honors and gala… for four straight years (all of episode 1).

he only sees a grift in there somewhere… or some fake award or other bullshit.

or maybe he doesn’t like the “a spectrum of many skills within the performing arts”, which is represented by… yup, you guessed it. a rainbow of colors including exterior lighting.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kennedy_Center_Honors

    or maybe it’s the non-white artists-in-residence.

or maybe it’s the ‘festivals’ that feature and celebrate art and culture from around the world.

or maybe it’s just him. fucking asswipe.

Maybe he just dislikes the name, Kennedy, being a part of a toponym there in DC. Kennedy family was\is very influential and the assasination of JFK is one of the most known historical events about the US, and RFK still rolls on it. He probably wants that for himself, and to control what as the wiki-page implies is an american culture. Or maybe he is taking it to mess with RFK in some way? I don’t know.
