“We wanted a message of unity,” organizer Dayne Webb, youth chair of the Kalamazoo Young Republican Party, said at the vigil event, WWMT reports. “You know that’s what Charlie was all about, is bringing people together, no matter if they disagreed or agreed.

Well, ya know, trans people aren’t people so, ya know, oh, and them colored folk, they aren’t really people neither, maybe 3 fifths -2/3rds at most - of a person, but not actually a real person, so, ya know, and them queers, well, they’re just demons, so can’t count them, so, ya know, charlie loved all the people.

Got a naive question, I knew Charlie Kirk only from toiler paper usa memes. Did he make fun of people with other opinions or were his opinions so extreme that others simply avoided coming to his debates?

From what Bernie said it seems like he held some sort of debates like this last one.

I’m completely out of the loop in terms of his history, so please forgive me

Honestly, I pay only some attention to these rather marginal characters. I get Kirk and Steven Crowder and Fuentes and Matt Walsh and Ben Shapiro and Jordan Peterson mixed up sometimes. But at least in my head, I put them under this “debate me bro” category.

From what I’ve seen of their “debates”, they are run nothing like an actual debate should be, and the scam seems to be that if someone declines to “debate” them, the person would be seen in the minds of idiots that they “forfeited”. Because the debate-me bro’s debate-fu is so very strong. 🙄

If they do agree, it’s only elevating and platforming these marginal characters that feed on being “edgy”. And I really don’t think there is any winning of these “debates” because they are not done in good faith. Again, from the few times I’ve dipped into this kind of thing.

People like Charlie Kirk are capable of all of it.

He debated some people fairly. Rare for them to debate adults, but it’s easy to find them arguing with youth. Charlie wasn’t stupid and he could navigate through common topics with something approaching grace.

He also performatively debated, like when he was shot. He doesn’t listen to facts, he’s hoping to say punchy phrases for the cameras, he’s hoping someone makes an ass of themselves. It’s a product for his customers that harms society.

He also went to safe spaces like podcasts and got very loose with it: conspiracies, hatred, divisiveness, violent rhetoric. Nobody could challenge him there.

He also engaged in unapologetic racism, like recently blaming a black fire chief for kids drowning somewhere else. No debate, no engaging the public, literally just being evil.

I think when people say Charlie was basically good, they are talking about very specific parts about his life. I get TPUSA ads about Kirk destroying stupid trans kids. It was Charlie’s hatred that got the most play. I’m just trying to be objective about it.

“You know that’s what Charlie was all about, is bringing people together, no matter if they disagreed or agreed."

I’m hearing this perspective a lot from middle ground people, and I’m inclined to think a lot of them are just missing a huge gap of information. (Ignoring the fact this guy quoted is from the “Young Republican Party”. Blegh)

I think a lot of them are shown a different side of certain figures.

I’m not talking about hardcore cultists, if their beliefs line up, they just get reinforced and they’re easy to “maintain”. I think the real targets are the “useful normies” that don’t really get it and usually “aren’t into politics.”

If you don’t protect your privacy, give out your information everywhere, clearnet log in to google / Facebook / insta / reddit / tiktok / twitter / etc, accept all the cookies, etc… algorithms are largely responsible for pushing your perspective of the world.

Let’s make the relatively safe assumption this is most people of any leaning who’ve had a smartphone just shoved into their hand before critical thinking skills were instilled, and were network pressured into blindly joining all these things to talk to their friends.

I genuinely think a lot of these folks saw only clips that made this guy look like a thoughtful and clever debater who gave people time to challenge him. If these normies follow the guy and go deeper, they’ll get pulled into what I like to call “the fashy funnel”, but a lot of them won’t. Most people don’t care.

They’ll just be exposed to little “reasonable logic” clips at a time that will slowly nudge them towards the opinion of “Huh maybe the righties aren’t so bad. I’m glad he’s willing to talk.” Well meaning, and of course, used against them and exploited.

The funnel system doesn’t want to drive these “moderates” away so it doesn’t show them the extreme stuff that would trigger their bullshit alarms. That’s saved for further down the rabbit hole. The goal is to appeal to their well-meaning centrism.

The guy said a lot of his WORST stuff on his podcast or Fox, because that’s where that funnel-segment of his audience would be accepting of it.

Meanwhile, if the algo thinks you’re a lefty, you probably get treated to the most awful stuff he said right out the gate, because it (often correctly) thinks that’ll piss you off and keep your attention longer.

And that’s how you sow working-class division, where one side sees the killing of a monster, and the other sees the death of reasonable bipartisan discourse.

They’ve both seen what they were told to see, and both sides then turn to each other and are outraged at how blind and foolish their fellow human beings can be.

Those arguments drive engagement, though. So the owning class wins again.

TL;DR: Stop accepting cookies, block ads, touch grass, be excellent to each other, social media was a trap the whole time.

      Probably yes.

I used to work for another office store that has since been absorbed into this one. There was an extreme white supremacist who ran a “church” in the area. My first manager told him we would not make his copies but he could use the self-serve machines. A few of my coworkers did not appreciate this stance and may have taunted him a bit.

A new manager came in and asked him why he was using the self-serve and invited him to use our copy services. Most of the department walked out that day.

The materials were what amounted to white supremacy lightly vailed as religion.

“Can you explain this gap in your resume”

“I was providing full time care for a critically ill family member”

There’s no database of jobs you’ve held in your life. Getting fired only screws you over if you tell the next place that you got fired. If they do a check and find posts, just says it’s a different person with your name. Also, stop cataloging your life on social media for anyone to research, it has never helped anyone.

The Work Number maintains a database of employment records that employers can contribute to, and it’s commonly used for: Employment verification for new jobs Income verification for loans, rentals, etc. Background checks

They also sometimes keep track of “eligible for rehire” status which basically tells whether you’ve been fired.

Also can be used to low ball you in your next position.

It’s run by Equifax. Enjoy the dark rabbit hole I just sent you down.

It’s the hypocritical asymmetric application of the policy that’s the issue here. Employers are retaliating against non-fascist workers for refusing to do work supporting fascist ideology at exactly the same time as they’re rabidly defending fascist workers refusing to do work that goes against fascist ideology.

I kind of feel like this is kind of one of those rare cases where we should ideally be letting the free market do its thing.

If a print shop, bakery, etc. wants to refuse your business on ideological grounds like this, you take your business elsewhere and tell everyone else to do the same.

It of course kind of falls apart with big companies like office Depot, where they’ve often driven all of the local competition out of business and someone can just keep running their complaint up the corporate chain of command until they reach a soulless bean-counter who only sees dollar signs.
