Some more evidence this is motivated by racism and evil (I know, redundant to say) is that if there was even an ounce of logic in these fuckers heads they would either escort the kid home, or tail/surveil him to identify his home, then grab the whole family.

This is not how you would run an organized campaign actually attempting to achieve their stated goals. This is intentionally causing extra emotional distress and chaos.

I know, I know, that’s been the obvious case the whole time. Just had to get this scream into the void.

Like, I don’t get how anyone could support this. Even the racists. If you want these people out why would you cheer for such an obviously horrifically mismanaged clusterfuck? Ugh.

Reality needs to get some better writers, this shit is getting too unbelievable.

I think there’s a really crucial fact that you’re unaware of or don’t want to acknowledge: the cruelty is the point. The republicans and their base don’t care that their immigration policy isn’t effective, the tactics are there for social media likes and to instill terror in migrants who may want to come here so they stay home.

The irony is that these fucking window lickers complain about how bad the “authoritarian” rulers are down south while actively cheering on an authoritarian wanna be ruler. They never cared about anything other than power and hurting minorities.

What’s weird is if the point was getting rid of illegal immigrants… wouldn’t in start in Texas which has a lot of illegal immigrants and where the citizens complain about illegal immigrants?

Why aren’t the citizens of Texas mad that all this money and effort is being spent in Minnesota, rather than in THEIR state?

We need to extradite ICE agents to the home countries of their victims. Let them stand trial there, in a place they may actually face justice.

The home country of many (if not most) of their victims is the USA.

Sure, ICE are inhumane nazi monsters, but extraditing them to that god forsaken shithole would evidently count as cruel and unusual, even for the likes of them.

Not only that, but “justice” there is a tragic parody of itself; they’d inevitably end up back on the streets.

Don’t overcomplicate it. Just put them down like the rabid pigs they are, and then go for the even more monstrous bastards that sicced them on the streets.

The home country of many (if not most) of their victims is the USA.

This is demonstrably false. Yes, the US citizens killed or violated by ICE are heavily reported, but ICE mostly targets its actual targets - immigrants.

It would not be cruel and unusual punishment. Here are the countries the US currently has an extradition treaty with (in blue), image from Wikipedia:

If you’re wanted for a serious crime in any nation in Latin America, you will be extradited. If you go down to Peru, rape or murder someone, and manage to get back to the states before being caught? If the Peruvian government requests it, the US government will happily put your ass on a plane and send you down to Lima to face the Peruvian justice system. You probably won’t be extradited for shoplifting. But for serious crimes, absolutely.

I’m not talking about deporting ICE agents to failed or war-torn states with no functioning justice systems. I’m talking about the kinds of countries that we regularly extradite people to. And this would be no different. It could all be done under existing law. Unlike your plan of “just put the pigs down.”

What’s with your white savior complex? You really think the harm done to the handful of US citizens arrested or brutalized at protests outweighs the harm done to tens of thousands of immigrants? How many immigrants are dying in ICE dungeons or once they’re cast onto the streets of countries they’ve never even been to?

How self centered do you have to be to think that cases like Rene Good represent the typical ICE victim. I feel like I’m taking crazy pills. “The majority of ICE’s victims are immigrants” is not a statement that needs defending. It was created to brutalize immigrants, and that’s mostly what it’s doing.

I quoted targets, not victims, galaxy brain.

I don’t think ice is doing anything other than mass targeting minorities, they don’t care about citizen vs noncitizens. And to the larger point, I don’t care if the people targeted are citizens or not, I care that people are being targeted AT ALL, so you can fuck entirely off with your dumb bullshit.

Making it about citizen vs noncitizen is willingly giving into their narrative, and I’ll gladly take heat from idiots to break that.

So the administration has quadrupled down on saying they are only going after thugs and criminals and narco terrorists and then they snatch little kids off the street? Because they can’t prove they are a citizen? There isn’t a single person on that ICE squad that can confidently tell me that they carried their identification on them at all times as a kid.

Seems the photographer Mostafa Bassim sells his photos on gettyimages:

The text from the photographer on gettyimages:

photos of people getting arrested and harassed, possibly the worst moments of their life sold for profit

I was in full agreement with your entire comment until I read this.

Tell us - how is the photographer supposed to support himself in this work if not via his images? Do you suppose this person is making vast wealth from this? You yourself acknowledge the danger of documenting what is going on in Minneapolis. Shouldn’t we be encouraging people in this - or at the least, not work to discourage it? By this logic, filmmakers who make documentaries about the victims of war shouldn’t be able to make a wage from their work, either. How about whistleblowers who expose abuse from within, are they allowed to make money from writing books about their experience? If you can provide me with evidence that this kind of photojournalism is leading to vast and exploitative profit-making schemes, I’ll reconsider your argument, but short of that…

If you want to talk about the worst moments of a subject’s life, consider Phan Thi Kim Phúc. At the age of 9, her village was hit by freaking napalm, and she was severely burned - her clothes literally burned away, and she was photographed running naked from the smoking ruins of her village. This image won the Pulitzer Prize, which undoubtedly aided the photographer in his career… and the victim herself hated the photo at first. I strongly urge you to read the article, however, because it shows how her thinking on this subject evolved.

The important thing is that these images are being broadly disseminated. And you don’t even have to pay to see them, or form your own opinion on them. What more can we ask for?

I watched this live: https://www.youtube.com/live/sjmfom1M7cc?t=5100 Border patrol turns onto that street at 1:23:44, stops around 1:24:30, are seen talking to him at 1:25:00, and have him in the SUV by 1:25:35.

The SUV he’s put into was being followed for over an hour beforehand (same heart bumper sticker and plate # that are visible at 1:25:08 and 1:25:00 are visible at 8:19 and 8:31, when CBP is seen prowling around a Home Depot parking lot).

Border patrol seemingly just sees a kid walking down the street alone and whisks him away in about a minute. Can’t really hear what is said in this video, but it does show that border patrol did actually take him, and this isn’t just a picture of them talking to him before releasing him.

This isn’t how our law enforcement is supposed to work we’re not supposed to prove anything to them. They have to attain enough evidence to arrest someone. The burden of proof is on them, what probable cause did they have to arrest that boy? Is he going to get a probable cause hearing. Is that dhs asshat going to file a report?

Fuck ICE but this pic and specific wording sets off my gen AI Facebook bullshit detector.
Who took that photo and got away? The linked photographer doesn’t exist. If they did, why did a different account post this, and knows what was said verbatim? What is the guy on the left holding?
What’s written on his chest patch?

Edit: Correction - The photographer does exist. Can’t find this pic on his socials (which are set to not show anything at least for the public) or his website. That thing on the left does look like a weapon (but I can’t tell which), and there are no 100% clear AI tells in the picture, except it all seems a bit “off” to me, and too perfectly composed to match the very specific and cliche message text.

Fuck, this shit is getting harder and harder. If there’s one thing AI is getting good at, it’s lying, and manipulating social media algorithms in a way that even legit human posters are pushed to imitate its style. So stay critical even if you agree with the message, and please excuse my premature assessment.

Edit: 2: Pic is legit, sorry for the mistake!: https://www.motherjones.com/politics/2026/01/ice-descends-on-minneapolis/?hl=en-GB

The photo seems to be zoomed in on a smartphone camera. Looks to me like the person who took the picture stood further away and used a digital zoom. And the guy on the left is holding a weapon. The chest patch of the guy on the left is at an angle where you can’t read it anyway. I don’t see signs of AI, just a low quality, zoomed in smartphone picture.

Thank you for summing up the key reason that AI bothers me, giving words to the off-putting feeling in my gut whenever I think about it.

Theft, attacking artistic integrity, energy-consumption, these are all things I’ve heard and seen people say against it. But the simple fact is that AI is a liar, and it’s muddying the line between truth and fiction in a way that no propaganda can match. It’s insidious, it’s powerful, and it’s everywhere. It sprung up in a time and place where reality was already under attack and poured fuel onto the fire of rampant disinformation.

worse than a liar; a liar makes you doubt everything the liar says, but generally you don’t lose faith in all information as a result of one person being full of shit.

AI doesn’t just lie, it lies often enough, convincingly enough, and is ubiquitous enough now that it dilutes the truth and makes everyone (like OP) question harder the validity of everything they see – or, more easily, start believing in nothing outright.

LLMs are neat tools, if very flawed ones, but image/video genAI is a fucking Torment Nexus that should not have been made.
