There will be people at that game living one missed paycheck away from a personal financial crash who put those tickets on a credit card and will be paying it off with minimum payments for months or years.
Private equity has ruined nearly all sports. The only solution is to go see the lowest levels of the sport, before this sort of insane money has entered the conversation.

It’s funny, my kids much prefer the AA baseball games over the indoor, air conditioned major league ones.
And it’s a whole lot more affordable: we can get into the park for about $30.
MLB still hasn’t hit NFL prices yet. Last time I went to the royals with wife and kid 1st base line about 11th row. I think it was about $140-$160 for all 3 of us.
Football and college football have become ridiculously overpriced. Same with concerts. I haven’t been to a Nebraska home game for about 4 years now. Usually went to two a year. They need to end the home streak. It’s been artificially pumped for years. And from I’ve seen some tickets are still available through the university which never happens
With all these companies throwing so much ad revenue into these games I have to wonder if it’s also cause for product inflation.
But even kids sports are becoming outrageous. Some of the money these traveling teams get is insane. My daughter found A volleyball team that’s only about $300 for the season. But others in our area are anywhere from 1k up to 8k.
MLB literally has 10x the number of games in a season. NFL tickets are expensive because each team only plays 8 home games.
I love the fun stuff that occurs at these - the mascot races, T-shirt guns, etc. That’s the shit you can’t get from watching it on TV!
My local High-A team had a ballpark pass. $200 for 4 tickets to every home game. Best money i ever spent.
The people are much cooler, atmosphere chiller, less corporate food/drink options, and damned if half the stadiums are better than the disgusting piss pits large stadiums are.
My work is hosting an employee event at a MLB game. I don’t care about baseball at all, so I was understandably pissed after the MLB and Ticketmaster apps thoroughly violated my privacy and made me give every bit of my information up, couldn’t even use a burner email because my work helpfully gave them my real one. Parking is apparently a nightmare so they suggested getting a 90 minute bus chain there.
Anyway it turns out we can’t even see the game. It’s some sort of little patio restaurant just outside the stadium that shows the game on TVs. I’m pissed.

This is the game for people who come back into Michigan before Thanksgiving but can’t or don’t want to attend the Bears game on Thanksgiving day.

I don’t understand how there are enough people left with this kind of disposable income that this is sustainable.
They start high and then get cheaper. You are basically paying to reserve the seat. The price will fall until it hits someone’s price range.
It you wanted to wait until the game starts you can buy significantly cheaper tickets. But if you want a certain designated seat and to get there early then you have to pay for that.
Not saying it’s a good way to do it. But this does give the person that’s willing to pay more the rights to the seat vs something like a first come first serve system. In those, the scalpers buy them up and resale. Harder to scalp the overpriced tickets because the scalpers have to continuously follow the price and gamble, not just buy them for their “lowest price” at a certain time.
I cannot imagine a single event that would conceivably be worth those ticket prices. People have lost their damn minds.

I’ve been waiting 35 years to go to a game on my birthday. Games have been played on my birthday before but never at home. This year is it. The cheapest ticket I can find is $230 Standing Room Only. Nosebleed seats are all $280. Everything else is an arm and a leg. I guess I’ll just watch from home and save the money for food.

Lions were a top 5 ticket price team last year, and number 6 this year. NFL tickets are absurd in general, but the top costing teams are on a different level.
They used to be one of the cheapest before Dan Campbell’s revolution, I went to a few matches when they were cheap, that’s when I realized that I prefer to watch NFL games on the TV. Hockey, NBA and soccer are great live, but NFL you spend more time looking at the giant screen to see the details of each play
Hard disagree. I absolutely hate watching on tv. The Viewing angle is completely wrong. Watching from the end zone gives you the Madden view where you can actually see the play develop and who’s open. Since the raiders moved to Vegas, I rarely get to watch in person anymore and I hate it.
In contrast, center field tickets for the worst teams in the league this year for the same price as the lions worst seats
Also the worst seats for this game were going for $40
I stopped watching the NFL because it’s ruined by this shit.
