You have a rice setting for boiling water?
I just chuck rice in the microwave. Comes out fine tbh
I have no idea what is in that image but it looks nothing like the brown rice I have here in Vietnam.
I have no idea what all those buttons on a microwave are for. I just stick it in the box, and blast it in 30 second increments.
Looks like a neuro fuzzy. That thing will make decent rice even if you try to screw it up. Brown rice does take substantially longer to cook properly - your rice maker is likely figuring that out and picking up the slack.
The Zojirushi are pretty damn magic.
I’ve literally never had an issue not separating laundry. Years of mixed loads never any colours bled, I thought the whole thing was a myth.
Last week I washed a red dress of my wife’s with whites, and all my shirts came out pink like a sitcom. It’s real people.
Just don’t buy red clothes
Crip detected
Yeah I had a great city wok logo shirt that I loved but it was literally the only red thing I owned and I didn’t feel like giving it it’s own wash so it got stored away.
Most of your white clothes are more like grey off white now if you’d care about that. I dont.
You can use vinegar to set dyes.
Red dye is particularly hard to set unless the Dyer knows and cares to do it
The dumb shit you learn when you date someone who does historically accurate recreation events…
Were there also historically accurate procreation events?
Only half way, they didn’t seem to want to deliver babies like in the very olden times, but making the babies definately happened in character from time to time
I wash on cold (or warm) and stopped separating laundry by colour a while ago and now separate it by purpose. Like a load of my clothes, a load of my daughter’s clothes (that she loads and unloads herself, not raising someone that gets confused when she needs to clean her clothes when she moves out), towels get their own load (with added bleach, colourful ones just fade over time), same with bedsheets (no bleach here though).
If I remember, I’ll do new colourful clothes separately on their first wash with the assumption that most of the dye that is going to come out will come out during the first wash.
It really is just very red things and white things you can’t mix.
They make these sheets you throw in with your mixed color loads, I think called Color Catchers or something?
I used to do that too until I had to use shirts to work. White shirts lose that sheen and bright white so quickly if you mix them.
I always sort mine by white, black, everything else. The whites can be bleached a bit to give 'em pop. The blacks don’t get fuzzies from the colors. After washing I pull the stuff that shouldn’t be dried, like hats, bras and shoes, and pull the stuff that’s spun down to barely damp, hang that stuff.
Shoes??
Too much wear and tear. They weren’t meant to be dried in a tumbler.
I guess my question is what are they doing in the wash to begin with. I don’t think I’ve ever seen that before
They’re these things you wear on your lower extremities for protection, comfort, warmth or fashion.
They even provide more than one of those benefits much of the time!
But that’s not important right now…
Holy shit that sounds awesome. Can I buy them anywhere or do I have to make these things myself?
You can buy them at many, but not all, places.
You COULD make them yourself too, but that would require years of training and expensive special equipment and making good ones would STILL be difficult and time consuming, so prolly a better idea to just buy or steal some for now 🤷🏻
same! i washed some red pants that i bought at an international clothes market and now i have a bunch of pink clothes!! i consider it an upgrade
Happened to me once, too.
Most of the brown rice you buy in grocery stores today is actually parboiled. Parboiled rice cooks with less water and in about the same amount of time as white rice. If you want real, genuine brown rice, you have to read the directions on the back. If it cooks in less than 30 minutes or 35 minutes, it’s not really brown rice. It’s parboiled. If the ratio of water to rice is less than two to one, then it’s also parboiled.
I ordered a cake for my birthday that said Happy 29th. I’m 40, they didn’t even check my ID or anything.
Bro is just doing shit

I order the club sandwich all the time and I’m not even a member, man.
Mitch Hedberg
Happy belated 29th birthday! What, I’m not checkin your ID, either
Hmm. You didn’t mention how belated. This all checks out.
It’s an older cake, but it checks out.
The maniacs will sell you the cake even if it’s nowhere near close to your birthday.
Wow so no inv?
I stopped buying birthday cakes when I realised most well-known places don’t really make them to be eaten but to look good in pictures and then be splattered onto faces. They were not tasty.
I’m sorry. Where I’m from birthday cakes are still made for eating.
You can put cinnamon rolls in a waffle maker to make instant cinnamon roll waffles.
^ A modern day Prometheus right here.
You can put a bunch of pancake batter in a rice cooker to make a big ass crazy pancake. I’ve only done it once, but it was like 2 inches thick, cooked perfectly all the way through, and super delicious.
This is BEYOND SCIENCE
Just don’t try it at the San Rafael Marriott
Proof the Nobel prizes in science are fixed.
Might have to try this…
Rice cookers use a thermocouple to detect when all the water has been absorbed, not a timer. That’s why it doesn’t really matter that much which setting you use.
You can wash sheets on the towel setting.
Yeah but then your sheets will be extra absorbent and you’ll get dry skin.
Lol.
Going through a Red Light (after a complete stop) at 3am in a desolate area when you are the only car on the road.
Also depends on the type of Brown Rice. We have one now, that cooks the same as white, but I bought one before that had a super thick hard casing and even after an hour of boiling it was still crunchy
Going through a Red Light (after a complete stop) at 3am in a desolate area when you are the only car on the road.m
There will always be a cop watching that intersection. Do so at your own peril. I’d end up shot.
Or even just a red light cam.
Not in my city. Running a red light is scarily common here. I once saw a pickup truck blow through 3 lights consecutively.
Do you live in Oakland California?
I’ve been in this exact 3am situation. Good thing I didn’t have time to actually make it into the intersection, because I would have absolutely been destroyed by the semi that came out of fucking nowhere going 20 mph over the limit.
Thus why I said after a full stop. Nobody should be blasting through a red. I roll down the windows, because you can hear cars coming when you are out in the middle of nowhere.
Going through a Red Light (after a complete stop) at 3am in a desolate area when you are the only car on the road.
Definitely look both ways and be cautious. Anyone who has seen The Mexican knows what I mean.
I will roll the windows down, because in a desolate area you are going to hear cars.
Unless they’re travelling faster than the speed of sound.
Fair point
That looks like a higher end zujirushi rice cooker which is probably why it came oot fine even with the wrong setting.
I need a better ricecooker.
I just have an Aroma one, and while it does a fantastic job of cooking white and brown rice, its a PITA to clean up to the point I hate even having rice now.
Someone correct me, but for rice alone, the cheapest rice cooker will do the job just as well as a Ninja or some shit like that, and may be easier to clean if it has just a lid compared to 5 different parts.
If you dont trust those, the Japanese style egg-shaped ones are still affordable and just work.I cook mine in a small Instant Pot pressure cooker. Doesn’t cook any faster - well it does but it uses up all time gained in building up pressure - but does a great job. It does, however, use one half as much water.
Best thing, it’s one less specialized appliance. That Instant Pot gets lots of use. Makes awesome yoghurt too.
I have an aroma one and cleaning is so easy rice is all I want to eat now, I wonder why the disparity. Do you know something I don’t?
maybe you have a different model.
Mines a pain in the ass to clean because the removable parts arent dishwasher safe (the untreated whatever the fuck metal the two removable pieces are made of oxidizes like crazy if you do put it in there, and then everything it touches turns black until you take steel wool and spend 20 minutes scrubbing off all the oxide… a mistake you only make once), and theres an absolute metric fuckton of crevasses and niches on the base that have to be cleaned with toothpicks and chopsticks wrapped in paper towel.
It does a fantastic job cooking rice. The tedium of cleaning it is just extreme and not something i need in my life.
i dont want more features. I dont a fancy name brand. I dont want any gizmos or gadgets. I just want a rice cooker that makes good rice, and isnt a misery to clean. -
Brown rice is more nutritious than white rice.
