Imagine my surprise seeing the title, and all I can think of is Ashens saying this during a review about the Chef Excellence’s stay fresh cheese bags. Haven’t watched him in ages.

There’s something very sweet about the idea of someone with little to no capacity for emotions trying to learn how to show love

Reddit mentions a pretty famous story of a neurophysiologist (or someone like that) with his own family, who figured out he was psychopathic while doing research on brain differences in psychopathic people. He concluded that his upbringing stopped him from being aggressive and violent, like psychopaths often tend to be.

Yup those are both mental health conditions and treatment is available. You can live a good, normal life with the right management techniques and work

Sadly narcissistic and sociopathic issues don’t always get treated as people see them as character flaws instead of illnesses. Also hard for those affected to get help.

It’s there though! Glad they’re recieving it

Or worse, people see these traits as good reasons to be President of the United States.

The fact that the process of becoming president sends like it is purposely designed to weed out non-narcissists is sad. We luck out every now and again, but it attracts some of the worst, as we have seen.

I think the surprise is more around someone with those conditions agreeing to go to therapy, not that therapy is available.

yeah “this person is unlikely to voluntarily get treated, better confine my actions to the protection of myself and others” is not a big ol’ ableism despite what people might sad eyes pressure you into thinking, zero guilt

Yes, but good luck getting someone with either of those issues, let alone BOTH, to receive therapy or even take it seriously if they do. Last time I suggested it to my mother, she told me I was dead to her and we haven’t spoken since. This was in roughly 2016 or so and my life has only improved since

I’ve briefly dated two people with sociopathic narcissistic tendencies, and both of them were in therapy.

From what I could tell though, it didn’t seem like the work either of them were doing in therapy was focused on either their sociopathic or narcissistic tendencies.

Sooo, I’m extra impressed by this mom’s apparent willingness to actually try to do the work, lol

I’m choosing to ignore the personality disorder and view this as the cute anime girl move that it is.

Edit: Thought about it a bit, the personality disorder actually makes it more of an anime character move.

    Dude… I think your mom is just 3 crows in a trenchcoat…

But don’t worry, I have 1½ stones to deal with that.

I know that’s a joke, but I’ma D&D it. You always round down so you only get one stone but the crows are exhausted from carrying that much cheese so you get advantage on your one throw. DC 17 to make.
