Hackers. Till the day I die…
hAcK tHe pLaNeT!!1!
They’re trashing our rights! TRASHING them!
In the same vein:
Johnny Mnemonic is unironically pretty damn good.
The pacing gets clunky in some spots, production quality is a bit off in some sections… honestly not really worse than say Escape from New York… its honestly overall pretty damn good.
This one deserves its own thread fr. Keanu Reeves worked his ass off to try and pull this together and it works in its cheesy way.
Uhm, but Hackers is not shitty.
mess with the best
die like the rest
i love that shit.
Hacker is the best !
Movie made me get into IT. I hate and love it at the same time.
Hackers is a legitimately great film.
Evolution.
Is that the one with David Duchovny?
Yes and Orlando Jones
And Seann William Scott
And Julianne Moore
Dan Akroyd, too.
That is a good one.
“can we get you anything?”
“ice cream…”
“okay, what flavor?”
“it doesn’t matter… It’s for my ass”
‘Wayne, I think we’ve established that “Ca-Caw Ca-Caw” and “Tookie Tookie” don’t work.’
Ah, I’m glad I was reminded that this movie exists.
“you are so beautiful…”
incredulous stare
“to me…”
monstrous roar from the other side of the mall
Well I know what I’m watching tonight… No joke my sister and I used to watch that multiple times a week as teens
They said shitty not awesome
Underrated movie IMO.
It’s not a movie, it’s an ad for Head&Shoulders.
Haven’t you noticed how shiny and flake free our hair is?
Dude, Where’s My Car? is so much better than it had any right to be. And while the main characters are stoners, most of the humor isn’t stoner humor. Not that there’s anything wrong with stoner humor, but movies that consist entirely of stoner humor tend to drag after a while.
Dude! What does mine say?
Sweet! What does mine say?
Duuuuuude! What does mine say?
Ray fucked me!
*See half baked
You ever suck dick for marijuana?
Umm… No…
Bob Sagat delivering that made it so much better.
Ever seen the documentary on The Aristocrats joke? Bob Saget’s parts are great.
It’s an incredibly dumb movie. And I love it.
And then?
NO AND THEN!
And theeeennnnn?
We got free tickets to DWmC after Shaft burned in a slow dialogue scene. So we saw this for free.
I’m reminded of the reviewer differences between this and The Emperor’s New Groove when I mention we still wanted a refund.
Last Action Hero. I know the editing is pretty bad and the rhythm is a bit messed up in the last part but it’s the most meta movie ever and an homage/parody to classic action movies. Having Arnold play the main part is the cherry on top.
True lies was a better executed tongue-in-cheek send up of the action movie genre, but Last Action Hero is a good and interesting movie.
Rubber baby buggie bumpers!
Where I live, this is being aired on TV on Christmas every year, as a tradition.
Mystery Men is a phenomenal send up of the superhero genre. It’s simultaneously extremely 1999 and decades ahead of its time.
The cable guy. Scary Jim Carey is scary. And the ending was visionary.
I feel this way about 23 as well. Jim Carey as a normal guy who’s absolutely losing it just hits different.
I blame the marketing for that movie not doing well. People went expecting a “wacky Jim Carrey flick” and what they got was a surreal and frightening thriller.
Eddie Murphy’s “Holy Man” suffers that bad marketing issue as well. They plastered so many ads making it out to be a loony Eddie Murphy film and the movie itself is more of an uplifting drama about believing in one’s self and not seeking external validation, with a few gags in it making fun of television shopping networks and the stupid shit people buy from them cause yeah, it’s Eddie Murphy of course they’re gonna have fun with it. But that’s only like 1/3rd of the film.
Rubber. An anthropomorphic car tire. If that doesn’t describe a masterclass in directing I don’t know what does.
I own this one! An homage to the no reason.
It’s pretty rare that I haven’t heard of a movie, but this is only the second time I’ve heard of this movie, and the first time was on reddit yesterday. Was that you?
I definitely wasn’t commenting on Reddit yesterday lol. Refugee here.
I’m not going to call Rubber one of the best undiscovered indie flicks out there, but is IS an experience every movie fan should have. The storytelling is unlike any movie you’ve seen. The fact that you understand the emotional motivation of a friggin car tire is unreal.
The Last Starfighter is not a shitty movie. Now go back to sleep, Louis, before I tell ma about your Playboys.
The Last Starfighter, Flight of the Navigator, and Batteries Not Included: the trifecta of 80s kids scifi
Flight of the Navigator
Oh wow, this kicked up some memories
“I don’t leak, you leak.”
I might swap in Explorers as the third to complete the “kids flying spaceships” theme. But BNI was a classic too.
I’d get ‘explorers’ in there too
Sucker Punch and D.E.B.S.
no, it’s not cuz I’m a lesbian!
…ok maybe it’s cuz I’m a lesbian
oh also TRON Legacy. “tHe PlOt iS sTuPiD” yeah no shit it’s TRON, the original was a glorified feature length CG animation test reel. I came here for pretty lights, cool motorcycles, Daft Punk, Jeff Bridges, and Olivia Wilde being hot, not for prestige cinema lmao
TRON Legacy is the best Daft Punk music video.
I’d give it to Interstella 5555, which is a full ass movie for Discovery, which might be their best album. Crazy that there are two options there though. I miss Daft Punk…
I watch House for all the same reasons
I was sitting here scrolling through the responses thinking about how I don’t have one, but yeah … TRON Legacy was good and nobody can convince me otherwise. I saw it in IMAX and it was an absolute visual treat, which was the whole point.
Sucker Punch was really underrated, I thought it was pretty good, overall. I thought the way they had the fantasy sequences line up with real-world events was pretty neat.
Spoiler
That being said, in my opinion all the female leads seemed really infantile, like they were coded as young teenage girls, and that made it kind of weird with how much they were sexualized.
Yeah, Sucker Punch is definitely problematic to say the least. A lot of people said it tried to do girl power and ended up just being a neckbeard fantasy, and I can’t earnestly argue against that. That being said it was visually fun, the fantasy/reality dichitomy and “what’s actually real?” was interesting even if not perfectly executed, and what the hell, I was a nerdy gay teenager when I first watched it so of course I was gonna enjoy steampunk schoolgirl ninjas kicking ass.
Killer Klowns From Outer Space needs no defending. It’s just a terrible great time.
What are you gonna do, knock my block off?
Absolutely masterful movie! Soundtrack is (big)tops too!!!
Tremors 2 is peak cinema IMHO. I only wish they had spent a little more on the CGI, or replaced it all with practical effects.

I never liked those quilting bees or the bingo parlours. I wanted to live life to the extreme.

The sound track and voice acting punched well above the movie’s aesthetics.
Big Trouble in Little China
Not shitty. An absolute classic. One of Carpenter’s finest.
Treasure Planet. There’s weird plot choices, but I loved the mixed animation, the music, the characters.
An actually bad but amazing movie would be Miami Connection. Karate rock band sings about friendship fights motorcycle drug ninjas. Fuck yeah bro.
BIODOME
Saw it in theaters when I was a kid, great 90’s flick. Pauly Shore was the shit back then. All his movies were great except that In the Army Now that one was bad. But the rest good.
I’ll be honest I like In the Army Now too haha
Cuz I’m a CAH-RAZY boy
Son in Law is one of my partner’s favorite movies, and even being introduced to it in the late 2000’s, I can see the appeal. Peak Pauly Shore. Plus, there really aren’t that many Thanksgiving movies, so it’s right up there with Planes, Trains, and Automobiles for the Mount Rushmore of Thanksgiving movies.
Iron man, iron man, does whatever an iron can
Stop! That’s Spiderman.
What are you some kind of rocket scientist or something?
Well, yeah
