Lego. I mean, it’s perfectly appropriate for all ages, but some people (mostly older folks) still seem to think it’s for children only.
Drink like I’m still 24.
Bold & easy coloring books. People are very judgemental about it since it looks like a children’s coloring book, but there’s a reason it’s in the top selling books lists online. Got some cheap alcohol markers and an audiobook on my headphones and I’m gone for the next few hours.
This probably isn’t out of the ordinary, but I’m not against playing video games that were made for children even though I’m going to turn 30 at the end of the year. I don’t always play them but if I try one and it turns out to be good, then I’ll play it.
I’m also not against watching shows or movies meant for children either but it’s pretty rare that I do.
Fantasize about murdering politicians
Snicker, exist. Almost 70.
Eating gummy bears.
In spring, I like to find puddles on forest roads and trails and dig small ditches and watch the water flow out.
I also do other kinds of forest infrastructure maintenance - trimming branches on narrow trails, clearing fallen trees, and building small bridges over wet spots. Occasionally, I mark hard-to-see trails by tying orange tape to branches along the way.
Sleeping with a cuddly toy. My parter converted me and they’re great. Tbh, they actually make a lot of sense as a middleaged person. Now that I’m old and less flexible, I end up with a sore back or shoulder if I don’t have proper support when sleeping. And I’d much rather have a big lion buddy than some weird orthopedic pillow or Dutch wife.
Ditto! I’m middle aged and can do wtf I want
Asking strangers for permission to pet their dogs.
Petting strangers’ dogs.
I took my dog to a local renaissance fair during one of their dog days, and had a healthy mix of people of all ages asking to pet her. Out of the dozens of people who pet her, only a couple didn’t ask. It’s always a good idea to ask before petting a stranger’s dog.
According to my spouse: play D&D.
D&D became popular in the eighties. Why should people who played it then start hating it as they get older?
The only way your spouse could be correct is if you’re still playing 2e and you’re under 50.
I used to also… I used to. Looking forward to rolling a wizard when I get to the retirement home
my old group would talk about the group nursing home they would need to be in some day to be running games.
I’m in my late 40s, and have so many Doctor Who toys on desks and shelves.
My spouse is sweetly tolerant of the sheer quantity of TARDISes in our small apartment (which is, alas, not bigger on the inside) and has even gifted me some of them.
I have copius amounts of stuffed animals
Play video games, according to a lot. Be absolutely enamored by cats? Some people have told me only toddlers like kitties so, what? Confusing.
Who the hell thinks only toddlers should really like cats? I guess the millions of cat owners worldwide are wrong?
It confused me too at the time!
Feed pigeons. I am not an old lady, although I sometimes feel like it :’ )
Being a friend to pigeons is awesome. They’re the cutest, chillest lil birds and there’s something magical about that bond with them. Ignore the haters! 🐦
They are truly great. It’s the sweetest thing when they start cooing and develop some (albeit food-based) trust to come a little closer to you :3
In case anyone who is reading this want’s to start feeding pigeons or ducks, please don’t use bread since it can cause health issues in birds. Use bird food or frozen (but thawed) peas instead and conduct your own research.
